The main character never develops a close relationship, with anybody. She likes everybody but distrusts everybody. Since she is suppose to discover and develop her magical capabilities, it seems like that could have added some fun to the storyline, but nothing ever happened. No skills or magic was ever mentioned. Maybe giving her a trusted friend and some newly discovered magic would have lightened up the whole book!

What she writes and how she recommends you think and behave makes sense. `Your thoughts become your reality' in essence. There is no doubt that a positive and visionary outlook creates a good destiny for yourself and any encouragement of self-belief and self-worth can only have a positive impact. Donna writes well and gives a great `recipe' to follow to achieve your dreams. Worth the read.

Returning home, he ran a homeless shelter in Boston. In 1996 he was ordained as a rabbi after seven years of advanced study at the Aish HaTorah Yeshiva. Yaacov and his students created SpeedDating events to help Los Angeles Jewish singles meet each other.Within a year, SpeedDating expanded to more than twenty-five cities worldwide and was featured in major media, including the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, People, the View, the Early Morning Show on CBS, NPR, and more. Currently Yaacov runs SpeedDating Worldwide, lectures on SpeedDating principles, and is the educational director of Aish Los Angeles, one of the largest Jewish education centers in the country.

Don't Date Without This Book!

When you're ready to stop wasting time dating the wrong person, read this book. The Speeddating way is to ask your date the right questions early in the courtship to spot the red flags BEFORE you find yourself deeply involved with this person for the wrong reasons-reasons like convenience, security/lifestyle or simply because the sex is just too good! Asking targeted questions also helps you to discover your own core values and to search for a life partner who will share those values. The methodology outlined in this book significantly reduces the pain of dating. Believe me!
Reading this book gave me new insight into why I married my ex-husband. We were what the authors call "defaulters-those who become so enmeshed in a relationship before making a commitment that they never really know where dating ends and the relationship begins." After living together in college and then moving cross country together for his law school, we eventually felt obligated toward marriage. We'd joke that our grandchildren's running gag about us would be, "Our grandparents lived together for 30 years and were married for 3." So we ultimately married because we couldn't imagine living without each other-not because we were so deeply in love-but because our coupledom was such a comfortable and professional and economically sustaining habit and because everyone in our families treating us accordingly. The section on chemistry is intriguing. There are aspects of love that cannot be expressed verbally.

"If love is a feeling that mysteriously appears and disappears, how can we ever be certain that it won't suddenly disappear?" pg. 16

I could appreciate the section on how a "giver" and a "taker" can result in a painful situation. The taker has strong expectations that everyone should give to him and the giver often wants appreciation and doesn't receive it. As they say, giving to a taker is extremely painful. I think we all want to be appreciated for the gifts we give.

The section on self-esteem was enlightening. Taking care of yourself physically and emotionally might also mean you are willing to be more aware of the needs of others.

Never doubt that the small things count. Like how much TV a person watches or if they are interested in their health.

The aspect of sexual relations is intriguing and from a Jewish perspective, physical intimacy is the merging of two souls. So, when you are intimate with someone your souls join and a part of each soul is exchanged. I also loved the chapter on Soul Mates. Do soul mates exist? Apparently a soul mate is the person who will help you reach your fullest potential, tolerate your flaws and love you for who you are.

I don't think you can fully appreciate what a soul mate is until you have found them. I'm of the opinion that soul mates appear when you are supposed to change into who you are becoming and they don't normally appear a minute sooner.

A book that tries to take the pain out of the dating game. It is based on the worldwide success of SpeedDating events.

A FUN TO READ BOOK WITH LOTS OF EXCELLENT DATING ADVICE.

I think this book is GREAT! I really enjoyed reading it a lot. The author's style is very easy to read and yet offers solid, practical advice about how to avoid the pitfalls of dating and making bad choices in today's dog eat dog singles world. Lots of great, interesting first hand accounts from both the authors and people they know. I think that this book is a MUST for all singles, whether you are 19 or 59, male or female, a religious person or a non-religious person - it doesn't matter. This book has something important to say to everyone. As a man, I feel I particularly benefited from the insights I got into women - better than the Mars-Venus stuff. My only question is: Why didn't they write this book years earlier when I started dating?! A top notch book that every single person should read.

I have worked with Mr, West for over five years and I have always struggled with my ability to take tests. I have always understood the material but always struggled with the ability to interpret the questions being asked. By following Mr. West core principles of test taking (Language, Positive/Negative, Place in Order, Broad Brushstroke, and the CIA method.) I have been able to sharpen my test taking skills to were I no longer fear test but welcome the challenge to seek higher level certification within the Cyber Security arena. When used by themselves or sometimes in conjunction you will find an efficient way to "cut the fat" out of the questions and focus on the primary answers that the test givers are desiring. I will be taking the most challenging test to date for myself and am feeling more confidant about my ability to pass my up and coming tests in the future. I thank Mr. West for taking the time out of his very busy and hectic schedule to produce a rock solid book that focuses on refined testing fundamentals that really work if used correctly. I recommend this book with 5 stars because of the impact on my personal ability to face test head on. Thanks Jim.

The Kennedy Illusion

Kessler puts forth a most direct and cards-on-the-table account of Joseph as the patriarch and architect of today's most powerful political family. Its an interesting account of how Joe bullied his children to do as he wanted when he wanted; Joe Jr died in WWII, so he decided it was Jack that was going into politics and become the first Catholic President of the United States, something that Joe Sr had failed at. This book goes to dispel the illusion effectively, and rightfully, that the Kennedy Clan was a model family for the annals of American History. I highly recommend this book to anyone remotely interested in the history of the Kennedy Clan.

A Stunning and Tragic Family

Kessler does an excellent job writing, truly, about the sins of the father, Joseph P. Kennedy. I had heard many stories about the man, but I didn't realize to what extent these stories were myths or real. Kessler certainly dispels that these stories are myths. He tells us what a manipulative, conniving, scheming, deceitful man that Kennedy really was.

We are treated to the stories of Kennedy's manipulation of the stock market for his own personal gain; his illegal importation of scotch to pad his growing millions; his manipulation and theft of Gloria Swanson's monies. It doesn't stop there. Kessler tells about how Joe wanted to avert war since he was afraid he would lose millions of dollars.

Kessler tells us how much Joe manipulated and controlled his children so that they would conform to his standards; and how their political life was formed in order for Joe to pursue his own dreams via his children's lives.

After reading of Joe's death, one has to wonder whether Joe's cruel and deceitful life was worth it in the end - two assassinated children; Rosemary's lobotomy; a family myth built on lies. A simply incredible book - first rate from start to finish.

Will blow your doors off!

Most of my generation takes for granted that Joe Kennedy Sr. built his empire in nefarious ways, but the depth and breadth of his corruption, exposed in "Sins of the Father," will leave you gasping for breath. Only a serious journalist like Kessler could expose so much that was rotten about Kennedy and still do it with fairness and a surprisingly even hand. He interviewed everyone with any knowledge who would talk to him and dug deep for the paper trails. It isn't just Kennedy's bottomless greed that astounds, but his staggering need for power and more power - over everyone including, of course, his sons who did what they were told. He was, frankly, a dangerous man and even though he's dead, it's a lesson for all of us what kind of people the glow of power will attract.

About the Author
Lorenzo Candelaria (Bachelor of Music, Oberlin College, 1995; Ph.D., Yale University, 2001) is an award-winning teacher and author at The University of Texas at El Paso. He is the recipient of prestigious fellowships from the Fulbright Program and the National Endowment for the Humanities and was presented with the Robert M. Stevenson Award by the American Musicological Society for his book THE ROSARY CANTORAL (2008).

They get a good text (and this is a good text)

I had a 3rd edition, and found that in the 5th edition there was hardly anything that was different. This is a common problem with authors. They get a good text (and this is a good text), and they do not update it. They are simply happy to get the royalties. There is hardly anything about the 21st century in this book. Current students do not know or identify with performers that were popular before they were born. I think that a big revision needs to be done with this book. Current information I had to find myself to teach this course. I think you should send this review to the authors. Professor Michael H. Stevens
