Twisted fate

This well-written short story is a story within a story. On the surface, it's the tale of a young couple getting married in the Caribbean. But there's more. The groom's mom and the bride's stepdad have a history, boy do they, and they think its private. As the wedding festivities begin, the sexual tension and conflict between the parents are at an all-time high. The story line is truly, will Penny and David take advantage of this second chance?

I read the entire story in one sit-down. It's the perfect download for a short wait at the doctor's/airport/what-have-you.

Touching reunion story

I love reunion stories, even ones where more than two decades have passed. Penny and David were teenage sweethearts who married and had a baby and then split apart. Now their son and his step-daughter are poised to be wed, forcing the divorced couple to interact. Add to that mix the fact that Penny never told Adam who his father is. My confusion lasts only a few pages and then I was swept up in Brenda's descriptive writing style and emotional conflict.

A REUNION LOVE STORY THAT GRABS YOU

This story is a prime example of what we should be teaching our kids: our actions have consequences. The hero and heroine made mistakes in their lives. Who hasn't? The consequences of their mistakes is a failed marriage, causing a boy to grow up without his father and each of them to live without their one true love. I read this almost in one sitting because I was so absorbed in the storyline of two mis-guided souls hoping and yet afraid to find their way back to each other. It charmed me. It angered me. It held me captive until the very end. This is not a cookie-cutter romance, it is a prime example of what happens when pride and hard-headedness over-rule our hearts. Well done.

I love this series!!

Holy nightmare! I about had a fit when this one ended! Really, I wanna know what's gunna happen NOW!!! I mean, there's a good bit of crazy going around, and I have totally fallen in love with this series. We picked up right where we ended in the first book, and it started with a whammy! This is the second book, and it's as good, if not better, than the first!!

So, Aria Naveed is trying to deal with her powers of fire. She is also trying to cope with a loss that rocked her. After the attack on her that killed someone special to her, she is trying to get moving again. She knows she has to do it, but no one ever wants to go on with that loss. But the world keeps moving, and vampires are being sent as assassins after her. So, she moves on, or tries to, and ends up getting into something series, like really serious, like OMG, did that just happen?!?!?! Serious! And she doesn't even get along with the local alpha, though her best friend is a wolf and in his pack. But the alpha offers her protection from the assassins. She can stay near her BFF and have a nice place to be. But this is gunna cause a stir as well.

So, let me see if I can talk about some things without spoiling other things... Things are complicated but seem to be going ok. But the road to hell is always paved with good intentions, and when Aria gets hurt, to save her life, someone does something that is very very irreversible. It's permanent and life altering and completely woah!! And she doesn't trust those around her, so she's in a not so nice place. And on top of that, her mother is not dead. Her mother is leading the bad guys. And that's some woah moments there too. She's strong, but I don't know if all of this won't drive her nuts. She's trying to figure out who she is and what's she's worth, as well as learning to control her powers. And her love life, well, it's complicated. I don't know what to say except bad words so I won't say anything LOL!

The writing is excellent, fast paced and action packed. It's also got good suspense and mystery to surround it. This is the first that there's ever any major hints at a romance so keep in mind this is urban fantasy, though there will be romance to come because.... yeah, that happened. LOL I loved the plot line, I lost my jaw for a moment with that plot twist, and I couldn't believe how that played out. This is an engaging story with a wonderful leading heroine. I like several of the side characters as well, and one character that I want to love but just can't seem to let go of the things he's done. I want him to be a good guy so bad. No, no names or hints. Intrigue and suspense is a big part of this book, so it will stay that way with my review. I seriously need book three, like ASAP! I need it, not want it, need it. With that said, 5 WOLFY PAWS, all though maybe I should be saying tiger paws after this book :)

Paranormal creatures are no longer hiding from the world...

As we delve into Kissed by Fire book two in the Blood & Magic series we find Aria trying to come to terms with the fact that she has inherited Sanborn Place from her friend and father figure Mike. She feels guilt over the fact that he died because someone was looking for her. She was supposed to be the one who died not Mike after all she is the one that they want dead.

Someone wants her dead very badly and is sending vampires that are not ready to be on their own as of yet they are too young. While Aria is fighting one of these vampires Declan the Pack’s alpha just happens to be in the area and he kills the vampire to keep him from killing Aria but she is furious with him for doing so and tells him in not a very quiet manner either I might add. She lets him have it with both feet. She didn’t want the vampire dead she was trying to subdue him so she could find out what ever she could about whom and why someone is trying to kill her.

With someone wanting her dead Declan offers her a place to stay at the compound where the shifters live. Aria has been on her own for a long time now and thinks she is very capable of taking care of herself. But when she is attacked by a very big monster she realizes she needs help and calls James for backup. She hopes he makes it in time before this monster kills her.

By the time James, Declan and other pack members make it to where Aria is fighting the monster she is very serious trouble. Aria is almost dead and so that leaves James and Declan with a decision to make to keep her alive. Declan mates with Aria to keep her alive and when she finds out she is furious. Aria doesn’t like this idea of being mated to a shifter and being in need of a babysitter besides she still has a job to do and is determined to do it. She will find out who is trying to kill her. She doesn’t need any babysitter. Even though she ends up in trouble on more than one occasion that probably could have been avoid if she would have just listened to Declan or James and not been so stubborn. But Aria is one tough cookie and very independent. She has been taking care of herself since her parents were killed several years ago.

I have loved following along with Aria, James, Declan and all of the other characters on their journeys. I love the world that the author has created for the vampires, shifter and all of the paranormal creatures. If you have not read Kissed by Fire then I suggest you do but I would like to suggest that you read the first book Cursed by Fire first so that you will know what is going on with Aria and how it all started. I am very anxiously awaiting the next book in the series.

Great sequel

In this second book of the Blood & Magic series Danielle Annett continues writing about Aria, a pyrokineticon who's on her path to justice. After finding out who killed Daniel, a young shifter boy, and being attacked Aria now falls under the protection of the shifter pack. Aria found out some new facts that turned her world upside down. Aria is working through her grief after losing people who were close to her. She also learns that she is now the owner of Sanborn Place. This comes with extra responsibilities. Aria needs to adjust to her new world but she finds it hard to accept help.

Declan orders his pack to find a mate for Aria. He needs and wants her on his side. Aria is too valuable to let go. Declan thinks that if he can manage to make Aria fall in love with a shifter he can bind her to his pack. Because of the fact that Aria is so independent it's not uncommon for her to go out by herself. Declan can’t let anything happen to her, so he follows or accompanies her most of the time. Declan can’t deny that the more time he spends with Aria the more he’s beginning to feel
for her.

After everything that's happened Aria has grown emotionally. She still is a force to be reckoned with, but she also shows her vulnerability more. This, in combination with her skills and determination, makes her an interesting character. Instead of trying to overrule her Declan learns that Aria
responds better if he supports her. I loved the way that their romance slowly evolves into something deeper. When more enemies join the upcoming war will they be able to survive together?

Kissed by Fire is a great second book. All of the creatures that Danielle Annett writes about make the story engaging and a definite page-turner. The first book and the second book of the series both have open endings, so it's necessary to read the stories in the right order. Kissed by Fire shows you more of Aria’s background and Danielle Annett reveals a lot of new secrets. The twists and turns made this book hard to put down. The third book in this series, Burned by Fire, will come out on September 30th and I must say that I can’t wait to find out how the story will continue.

Micha is so swoon worthy!

Muscle cars, rock and roll and a bad boy persona, yet some how this boy makes me swoon every time! This book is the wonderful conclusion of Ella and Micha's love story. It is such a sweet story even though it was far from easy and filled with many obstacles. I actually think I will be rereading both books in this series soon because it was that good. Here are some of the things I loved about this book:

*Both Ella and Micha are "real". There is not sugar coating overly perfect characters here and it made me love them all the more!I felt as if I really knew them.

*Jessica gets it. She seems to understand that love is not just about heat and instant connections. Ella and Micha's deep friendship was such a refreshing thing to see and read. Did it make their journey easy? Absolutely not. Did it make me cheer them on harder than I have most book couples? Absolutely!

* Ella really grew as a person in this series and watching her going from a scared little girl hiding from her past to where she was at the end of this book was simply empowering.

* Ok, let's face it, this book is hot and yes, that matters ;).

* I really felt all of the emotions the Ella and Micha felt throughout this book. It blows my mind when an author can write something that emotionally connect with me as much as this book did.

*The secondary characters add richness to the story and I feel invested in them and want to know about them, yet they did not distract from the Ella and Micha's story.

If you read the first book in this series, you are going to be beyond thrilled with this book. It is probably best if you read book one first, but you could read this without having read it. If you like honest stories about real people filled with a true emotional journey and a some real heat, you are going to devour this book. I can not wait to read more from this series and I have read that some of the amazing secondary characters will be featured in the next book! Eeeep!!!!!

I just loved this book, well both books! It's so touching and loving but still filled with angst. All the characters are great, and this is a couple you just want to see be together, and I was completely satisfied with the ending. I love Jessica Sorensen's writing, and Iook forward to reading Lila and Ethan's story.

So much hurt, pain but most importantly LOVE.

This story continues after the first Book (The Secret of Ella and Micha) so if you haven't read the first book, you really need to back track and read it. Ella is now in school and seeing a therapist and Micha is on the road with his band. Being apart becomes too much for the two of them, but Ella soon realizes that being together is just as rough because she needs to sort out herself first and love herself before she can let someone else love her.

The story is very real. It's heartbreaking the way these two push and pull at each other, and very heartwarming to see how they grow together and support each other as they evolve and grow and begin to trust in their love for each other (and to trust each other and be honest with each other).

The crap that they put up with from each other is a testament to their love. Micha said it somewhere in the book that the fact that they know every bad thing about the other going in is a strength because there's no surprises, they know what they're in for and he's right. They don't love each other despite their faults. They love each other faults and all!

I love Micha. He was so patient and so determined to make Ella admit what she felt and I have to say, she's a very lucky girl. I'm very very very happy with how the story ended, and I'm proud of Ella and how much she overcame.

Is there going to be a story about Ethan and Lila?? come on you can't leave us hanging!!! I would definitely recommend this book. It has lots of sexual situations, so I wouldn't recommend it to young readers, though the lessons here are great.

A Very Entertaining Read!

This book was a fun and easy read. I would say this book is an enjoyable read for adults and young adults (boys and girls) alike. I was delighted the story took an imaginative approach on a day in the life of a young girl (surrounded by creatures). Although a magical/enchanting story, the book touches on some typical pre-teen issues kids experience. There is also an underlying mystery slowly unraveling throughout the book! I liked the main protagonist and was curious as to what other adventures she would encounter with her mysterious parents and unlikely best friend. A sequel would be a great for this storyline.

near-epoch dependence; the weak and strong laws of large numbers; weak convergence; and central limit theorems for nonstationary and dependent processes. The functional central limit theorem and its ramifications are covered in detail, including an account of the theoretical underpinnings (the weak convergence of measures on metric spaces), Brownian motion, the multivariate invariance principle, and convergence to stochastic integrals. This material is of special relevance to the theory of
cointegration.

Fantastic introductdory reference book

As another reviewer noted, there are absolutely no "real world" examples in this book. But that's not really the point. This book covers many of the theorems and techniques you would need to prove asymptotic results for time series, and I refer to it almost daily. The book would be extremely difficult for someone who hasn't taken a graduate sequence in econometrics or had similar mathematical preparation.

It's the first book I look at when I want to understand the details of a concept (mixing, for example), and I wish that Davidson had included some more topics that are related to my current research... that combination should make this an ideal introductory book, even though the material is inherently difficult.

Get ready for a hard time

Yes, I know it's a standard game of reviewers to show off by describing books as "a good introduction", implying one's capability of easily absorbing the material.

I shall try to judge the book by its stated mission, viz. to be an "introduction for econometricians". In my view it isn't, the material doesn't resemble much of what you are likely to have encountered in your econometrics education. If anything it is a course in applied measure theory. I should add that I don't know how the original sources look like (e.g. Billingsley), perhaps they're even worse. I just don't see where the book is supposed to be tailored to the background and needs of econometricians (with the exception of convergence to stochastic integrals at the very end, relevant for unit root econometrics etc.). Motivation and relevant examples (e.g. links to econometrics which one might reasonably expect in view of the title) are scarce, or to put it in Davidson's words, they occur on a set with measure zero. The book is thus extremely terse. It's Theorem - Proof - Corollary at its best. The back cover even recommends the book to business econometricians also (whatever that may be). This must be a marketing gag by the publisher, as far as I can judge the business world.

On the other hand it is quite self contained, which means most concepts you need in the later parts of the book are developed (if briefly) in the introductory chapters. Davidson frequently helps you with the task of understanding the proofs (which cover an estimated 2/3 of the book) by referring you to the relevant places.

It is only fair to acknowledge that Davidson does a remarkable job of explaining the material rigorously, but just don't be fooled by the title. It's hard work, you have to spend time on each word and (there is a lot more of that obviously) (in)equality.

Happily, it's worth it. Once you're through this, some of these obscure appendices in Econometrica may at last become more accessible to you. (The converse also holds: if you have never been interested in the details of the proofs save your money.)

I worked on various theoretical problems in econometrics. When I needed some theory, most of the time Davidson's book had it. Books in probabilities and statistics have too much material and examples that econometricians don't need (for example, I read Feller, Doob, and Rao). Davidson is good not only as a reference. It develops skills necessary for econometric research. It is a must for those PhD schools that claim to be centers of excellence.

Norman J.W. Goda is the Norman and Irma Braman Professor of Holocaust Studies at the University of Florida. He is the author of: Tomorrow the World: Hitler, Northwest Africa, and the Path toward America (1998) and Tales from Spandau: Nazi Criminals and the Cold War (2007) as well as co-author of (with Richard Breitman), US Intelligence and the Nazis (2005) and Hitler's Shadow: Nazi War Criminals, US Intelligence, and the Cold War (2010).
