Declan and Haylee have been together for a few months now and their relationship is going strong. They have just graduated from college together. Amanda, Haylee’s best friend, has just learned that she is pregnant and she and Chris are getting married. Haylee’s parents buy her a condo as a gift and she moves in with Declan. Not too long after, Haylee and Declan get married.

Their lives are going perfect, they have a young baby boy and nothing could be better. Haylee has started a new job and Declan is doing well with law enforcement. She was just waiting for the shoe to drop. Declan dies suddenly of a heart problem and her world collapses. Her son becomes ill and she loses her job. Amanda steps in and makes her go to an interview, where she runs it with a part of her past she never thought she would encounter again.

Second time around

Most of the story is about Hayle finding love with an Irishman. Then he has massive heart failure and she is left alone. She meets Nick the nerd and he is still upset about her treatment of him in high school. They overcome this when they finally talk and a romance develops. Hayle grows up and learns what love really is. A good romantic story but needing editing. All three books need to be read together as the first was cut off from the story.

My rating was good because this book told a modern day story with just the right amount of the things I look for in a book. Feel good characters, compassion, a somewhat realistic story and it made me feel good after reading the book.

Fantastic Novel!!!

WOW! Interred was a fantastic surprise! Interred storyline is fully-loaded with magic, Time Bender, time travel, mystery, suspense and cute romances. Marilyn Almodovar's outstanding world building and awesome characters totally took me on an incredible adventure. I enjoyed all the different characters with so many wonderful personalities.

Baxter is turning sweet sixteen, except it's not so sweet. Baxter's mother has been hiding a few little details from her about who she really is, and when Frederick shows up from the England Magical Being Council, Baxter not too thrilled with Frederick when she learns who she is, or about the way the Council wants to celebrate the night of her birthday, to discover what magic ability she will receive. Baxter will also meet two boys; one she'll have to help release from a time loop, and the other she'll lose her heart to.

I love Baxter. She's a strong, feisty, sarcastic heroine. Baxter jumps right in to do what she has to do. Jack and Declan are also great. Jack is flirty with a cocky sense of humor, and no way is Baxter going to able to resist this gorgeous boy. Declan is gorgeous too, but has a colder, dark side and he's been trapped in a time loop for one hundred and twenty two years, and even though he's Jack's great uncle, Declan hasn't aged over seventeen. Both these guys have a connection with Baxter. But the question Baxter is asking herself is: which one can she trust?

Interred is a fantastic adventure of romance, magic and betrayal with Baxter, Declan and Jack. I also enjoyed that Interred is more of a mature young adult novel. I recommend Interred as a fun, magical read with a heartbreaking cliffhanger ending. Yep, I will be waiting on the second book in the Chronicles of the Interred series!

I received a review copy of Interred in return for an honest review as part of the blog tour hosted by YA Bound. Baxter's sixteenth birthday is just around the corner quickly approaching, when a stranger shows up at her home. She learns that her mother has inherited a family home, and that she has inherited a pendent that holds a teenage boy trapped in a time loop. Declan has been locked in the time loop for over 122 years and he's hoping that Baxter will be able to break his curse. Baxter also learns that magic beings do exist and she's one of them just like her mom. Against her best judgment Baxter's mom takes the family to long so that she can be Interred.

When they arrive in London Baxter quickly learns that on your sixteenth birthday everyone is Interred where they test your powers and you come into your full powers. Baxter learns that she's a time bender very rare a gift it's also why she can see Declan and no one else can. She learns that Declan has agreed to help her pass her interred with the hopes that after she will be able to free him from the loop. On the night of her sixteenth birthday she's taken with the others to be Interred but it's nothing like she could have imagined. Everything goes crazy, she runs for her life with Jack a warrior healer who she has a connection with. With his help and Declan's she will be tested unlike anything she can imagine pushing her to limits. Then when she thinks it's over she learns that her whole life has been turned upside down to the point she won't be able to go back. Will Baxter be able to save the day?

I love Interred. The concept is very unique and interesting it's a new twist on witches very refreshing. I think Baxter is a great character she's very real which makes her easy to connect with. Baxter has two potential love interests in Interred one who's stuck in the time loop and one she's connected with because he's a healer. I had a hard time rooting for either one because I kept expecting them to turn on her. The story is well written it flows along smoothly, however when the Interred started things got a little confusing but that's because so much was going on. I like that it's a clean book which makes it appropriate for teens as well as adults to enjoy. Interred is an action packed adventure filled with mystery a little romance and whole lot of magic. I found the story so captivating I had a hard time putting the book down I just had to know what was going to happen to Baxter next. I can't wait to see what's going to happen in the next book.

Interred centers around a typical teenage girl named Baxter. Except, as she approaches the age of sixteen, Baxter finds out that she's not so typical. When a relative from across the pond visits and informs her of her magical abilities, Baxter is thrust into a world full of those who want to use her time-bending abilities for their own gain. Baxter also learns that as a `welcome' into the magical community, she will have to spend her sixteenth birthday in a not-so-pleasant way. To get through it all, Baxter relies on two equally alluring boys, Declan and Jack. But who can she trust?

Interred was a fabulous novel. Although the characters had magical abilities, the novel was set in our own world, making it very easy to imagine the scene and connect with the characters. The characters were easy to connect with right away, but as layers of the story unfolded, an even deeper understanding of the characters was gained. I liked that the story wasn't predictable and had a few plot twists. The humorous nature and pop culture references were also aspects that were a big hit with me. I thoroughly enjoyed the plot and am eagerly awaiting the next novel.

A revised and updated edition of the 1978 work Art: African American, it presents short biographies and illustrations of the work of 176 artists of African descent working in the United States from the Revolution to the present. The strongest section covers artists, almost all of them painters, working from 1865 to 1960. Descriptions of artists after 1960 are a jumble of thoughtful three-page essays and uninformative three-sentence citations. Because this scholarly but readable work will be the starting point for so much research, the lack of annotations in the bibliography and the overall variability in the quality of citations is a major disappointment. Despite these flaws, this will be the book to reach for when African American art reference questions arise. Recommended for fine arts collections.

A Commendable Documentation of African-American Art

Samella Lewis has updated and further developed her definitive guide on African-American Art. As a former student instructed on the subject with her first edition of this book as our class text, I can definitively say that this book provides a solid understanding of the different art movements and a variety of examples of the works. Also from the perspective of a young museum professional who has worked with African-American art collections, I highly recommend this volume as a foundation of basic knowledge on the subject.

Got it for class

When I ordered this book on Amazon, I was not sure what the quality was like or if it was in fact the right textbook. When it came, it was in perfect order for being a used book and was not missing any pages. It also was the right book for class and contains a lot of information regarding African American Artists, mainly the ones of the visual sorts. Good read, lots of images in black/white and also in color.
