This is a powerful wonderfully written easy to understand book that clearly reveals God's Plan for All. It's an eye opening book that explains the True Gospel of Jesus Christ and the TRUTH about WHO The ONLY BEGOTTEN SON OF GOD really is. It reveals the truth of the BIBLE without adding or taking away from the INSPIRED WORD OF GOD and reveals the many FALSE DOCTRINES being taught by MAINSTREAM CHRISTIANITY today. Good book to learn theory of C6 Lap Steel

If you want to learn lap steel and learn the music theory to understand what you are doing, this is your book. If you want some quick licks, this is not it. I gave if 4 stars because the Kindle format is not ideal for reading music. I recommend that you buy the ebook and DVDs directly at www.joedocmusic.com. The ebook is provided as a pdf file which allows you to change screen format as you wish and to print sections. The DVDs also provide visual lessons to go along with the book.

Absolute Gem

This book is an absolute gem that packs a wealth of information into 140 pages. If you are a guitar player with a music theory background or not, you'll love Joe's explanation of lead voicing as it relates to going up and down the neck of the lap steel. This book is not geared toward learning licks. Instead, it gives you the knowledge and understanding of how "licks" are made. I was drawn to C6 lap steel tuning, as I loved the layout of the chord inversions. I studied the neck on my own, and watch tons of online videos. Before buying this book, I was unable to link my music theory background to the lap steel. Joe's book gives a lot of detail into how to link these inversions together using lead voicing and parallel motion. I spent the afternoon with this book, and I am already playing way better. If you are completely new to lap steel or guitar player coming to lap steel, this book is definitely worth the investment.

This book is the best music instruction book I have read (guitar, bass, mandolin, slide, lap steel).
I really appreciate Joe's explanation of music theory. Although I've played guitar for over fifty years, music theory always intimidated me. Joe made it easy enough for this GOP (Grizzled Old Picker) to understand!
Techniques covered in detail, Tabs, Charts, MP4 file examples. It's all there. Simply Excellent!

About the Author

Dr. Jag Mohan Humar, is currently Distinguished Research Professor of Civil Engineering at Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada. Dr. Humar obtained his Ph.D. from Carleton University in 1974. He joined Carleton as a faculty member in the Department of Civil Engineering in 1975 and became a full professor in 1983, and served as the Chairman of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering from 1989 to 2000.

Dr. Humar’s main research interest is in structural dynamics and earthquake engineering. He has published over 120 journal and conference papers in this and related areas. He is also the author of a book entitled "Dynamics of Structures," published by Prentice Hall, USA in 1990. The second edition of the book has been published by Balkema Publishers of Netherlands in 2002. In February 2000 Dr. Humar led a Canadian Scientific mission to Gujarat to study the damage caused by the Bhuj earthquake.

Dr. Humar is actively involved in the development of seismic design provisions of the National Building Code of Canada. Over the last 15 years he has served as a member of the Standing Committee on Earthquake Design, an advisory body to National Building Code of Canada (NBCC) for its seismic design provisions. During these years the NBCC seismic provisions have undergone substantial revisions, and many of the changes and new requirements have been influenced by Dr. Humar’s work in the field.

Along with teaching, academic administration, and research, Dr. Humar has also been active in engineering consulting He served as a special consultant for several outstanding civil engineering projects, including the National Aviation Museum in Ottawa and the SkyDome in Toronto. He was a seismic design consultant on several other projects, which include the Earthquake Response Study of the Alexandria Bridge across the Ottawa River, Seismic Rehabilitation of the Victoria Museum, Ottawa, Blast Load Analysis of the Mackenzie Tower, Parliamentary Precinct, Ottawa. He also served as a member and chair of the experts panel to review the seismic rehabilitation and upgrade of the West Block, Parliamentary Precinct, Ottawa.

Dr. Humar has received several awards for his outstanding contributions to teaching, research, engineering practice, and the profession.

Dr. Humar serves as a field referee for many international journals including the ASCE Journals of Structures and Engineering Mechanics, the Journal of Sound and Vibration, the Journal of Structural Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering, and the Canadian Journal of Civil Engineering. For 7 years he served as an Associate Editor for the Canadian Journal of Civil Engineering. Currently he is the Associate Editor of the International Journal of Earthquake Engineering and Structural Dynamics.

The delivery service is bad!

I give 4 stars to the content of the book. This book is very good and worth buying. I reduce 1 star because I am so disappointed about the delivery service! I spent a fortune on the new book because I really love this book. I expect a book in good condition. However, several notable scraches were made and the corners of the cover were damaged during the delivery! This is not acceptable!

Dohla served from 1777 to 1783 as a private in the Hessian mercenary forces hired by the British to help suppress the revolt in the American colonies. The campaigns of the Ansbach-Bayreuth contingent to which he belonged saw action in New York, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania and Virginia. In a simple, direct manner, Dohla's diary records garrison life, marches and infrequent brushes with "the rebels." The author participated in the climactic Yorktown campaign in the autumn of 1781, witnessed the formal surrender of British General Cornwallis, then spent a year and a half as a prisoner of war. The diary will interest Revolutionary War scholars--but lay readers will find this impersonal opus, edited by historian Burgoyne, dry. Though sensitive to the beauty of American towns and villages, Dohla was uninterested in character (revealing names and ranks only), and his rare interpretive comments are unsupported by example. Illustrations.

Excellent resource of info on the "hessian" troops!

This diary makes clear the miscoceptions and wrong ideas
about the hessian troops, the most significant that they were not
mercenaries, and they did not want to be in british service in the first place.The author gives excellent discriptions of events, and writes in such a way that the reader gets a very good picture of his personal life and character. He and his unit missed most important combat action, but the few they participated in, like the siege of yorktown, are described in immense detail. I highly reccomend this book to anyone who is interested in the daily life, opinions, and observations of a revolutionary war soldier.

Good guide for beginners!

Neuroplasticity is a interesting topic and there is so much to learn about the human brain. This book is a good introduction to it. I came across some helpful information, it explained and showed how the brain is always regenerating. I wish there was some more information since I've read few books on this topic already. This is a good guide for beginners!

BEST BOOK FOR JIRA LOVER

I work in one of the biggest bank in India, my responsibility is to manage various marketing campaigns of the bank where we promote new schemes and offers. We also organize various events and workshops in companies. Since several people are working on these campaigns, it is very difficult to manage the work and track who is doing what activity. Usually these campaigns are supposed to be finished within 2 or 3 weeks and we try to store the result of the feedback to analyze it later, like how many new accounts were created, how many leads we got and it helps us in future campaigns.

We were using excel sheets and emails for managing the work and no prizes for guessing it was horrible to keep track. We started using online to-do tools, these seem to work for us as everything was managed online and people can track their work. We quickly realized the need to have custom solution where we could have our own process mapped in the tool and also we needed more fields to capture the information.

Since we are working in banking industry, it was also a not a good idea to use some hosted solution. We decided and got the approval to purchase some tool that can be hosted internally. We quickly came to know about JIRA being one of the best tool for issue tracking and the ability of customizations. We spend couple of months trying the make the tool work for use but we felt that the customizations done by us were difficult to maintain and we ended up with so many schemes.

I had good understanding of the tool before I read the book and that is the reason I purchased the Mastering series. The book focuses mostly on the customizations of the tool and also there is a chapter in which the author has described really well on how to maintain difference schemes. At one point the author has written about change control board and mentioned about the process that JIRA administrators should follow to accept changes in the schemes. I also like the fact that there are several other administrative topics that were discussed till the end. You feel empowered after reading this book, and you learn the capabilities of this tool. I spent most of my time on JIRA these days and I keep this book on my desk just as a quick reference.

I highly recommend this title to all JIRA administrators.

Fun, showy, classy

This is a great book if you are looking for a creative take on classic hymns. The arrangements vary in difficulty (speaking for violin parts, not the piano part since I don't play) and are interesting even for advanced amateurs. Mr. Ritter appears to know and love the classic hymns dearly, which is reflected in the music. I can tell which verse he has in mind for each repetition of the melody.

A few weeks ago I used "And Can It Be" during a Presbyterian service and actually got an ovation. If you are not Presbyterian, you may not realize how impressive that is! Beautiful music, arranged in a modern but respectful style. Thanks, Mr. Ritter!

10 duets & a couple solos

Purchased so I could accompany my daughter as she plays the violin. There are only TWO violin solos in the book. We only have ONE violinist in the family. The title is misleading giving the impressions of 12 solos & duets. Even 6 solos & 6 duets would have given us a few songs to play. It would be much cheaper to purchase sheet music individually.
If you have TWO violinists and a piano accompanist, this would be a great book for you as the songs are well written and beautiful.
This is a Violin DUET book... just leave the word SOLO out of the title!

A good resource for simple renditions

It offers enough musical interest for the novice to be challenged. It also offers enough ideas for the intermediate violinist and pianist to offer additional variations to the pieces.
I was hoping for something a little more challenging, but this was okay and is helpful for something needed at the last minute.

About the Author
Alan B. Eisner is Professor of Management and Department Chair, Management and Management Science Department, at the Lubin School of Business, Pace University. He received his PhD in management from the Stern School of Business, New York University. His primary research interests are in strategic management, technology management, organizational learning, and managerial decision making. He has published research articles and cases in journals such as Advances in Strategic Management, International Journal of Electronic Commerce, International Journal of Technology Management, American Business Review, Journal of Behavioral and Applied Management, and Journal of the International Academy for Case Studies. He is the former Associate Editor of the Case Association’s peer reviewed journal, The CASE Journal.

Gerry McNamara is a Professor of Management at Michigan State University. He received his PhD from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. His research focuses on strategic decision making, organizational risk taking, and mergers and acquisitions. His research has been published in numerous journals, including the Academy of Management Journal, Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Journal of Management, and Journal of International Business Studies. His research on mergers and acquisitions has been abstracted in the New York Times, Bloomberg Businessweek, The Economist, and Financial Week. He is currently an Associate Editor for the Academy of Management Journal.

Gregory G. Dess is the Andrew R. Cecil Endowed Chair in Management at the University of Texas at Dallas. His primary research interests are in strategic management, organization–environment relationships, and knowledge management. He has published numerous articles on these subjects in both academic and practitioneroriented journals. He also serves on the editorial boards of a wide range of practitioner-oriented and academic journals. In August 2000, he was inducted into the Academy of Management Journal ’s Hall of Fame as one of its charter members. Professor Dess has conducted executive programs in the United States, Europe, Africa, Hong Kong, and Australia. During 1994 he was a Fulbright Scholar in Oporto, Portugal. In 2009, he received an honorary doctorate from the University of Bern (Switzerland). He received his PhD in Business Administration from the University of Washington(Seattle) and a BIE degree from Georgia Tech.

G. T. (Tom) Lumpkin is the Chris J. Witting Chair and Professor of Entrepreneurship at Syracuse University in New York. Prior to joining the faculty at Syracuse, Tom was the Kent Hance Regents Endowed Chair and Professor of Entrepreneurship at Texas Tech University. His research interests include entrepreneurial orientation, opportunity recognition, strategy-making processes, social entrepreneurship, and innovative forms of organizing work. He has published numerous research articles in journals such as Strategic Management Journal, Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Journal of Business Venturing, and Entrepreneurship: Theory and Practice. He is a member of the editorial review boards of Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice, and the Journal of Business Venturing. He received his PhD in management from the University of Texas at Arlington and MBA from the University of Southern California.
